What is OpenWebU?

OpenWebU is an open platform for professional and technical training, where anyone can publish training and charge for it, and anyone can take training.

How do I sign up?
Sign up by clicking on the Sign Up button above. Signing up lets you take a class if you would like to be a student or publish a class if you would like to be an instructor.
How do I pay for a class?
You pay for a class by adding it to the shopping cart and going through the paypal process. Paypal lets you pay by email or using a credit card, whatever you choose.
How do I take a class?
Sign up as a Student, and we will walk you through how you can take a class. Or, if you'd like further details, you can click on Take a Class in the above menu.
How many classes can I take at once?
There is no limit on the number of classes you can take at once.
Who accredits the class?
OpenWebU is a platform for the class. The publishers/instructors accredit the class. For further information, you can email them.
After I pass the class, then what happens?
What happens after you pass the class depends on the class you take. You can email the instructor or publisher for further instructions.

What rights do I have to my content?
As a publisher, you own your content. OpenWebU provides you a platform to sell your content.
How is my content protected?
OpenWebU protects your content in two ways:
First, we only deliver your content through 'streaming' rather than 'progressive download'. Streaming ensures that your content never touches the user's computer hardware, and prevents 'streamrippers' from copying your content.
Second, OpenWebU requires users to sign on, and then validates that they have paid for your content. It also verifies that they have not passed an expiry date for access to the content. You can set the expiry date.
How much will it cost me to publish a class?
We charge you a listing fee based on the amount of material stored. You will see the listing fee just before you publish a class.
How is the price for my class set?
You can set any price for your class, above the minimum price.

What is the mail-in option?
If you are publishing a class with OpenWebU, you have the option of mailing in your content to OpenWebU to convert it into the right flash (.flv) format and upload it.
Why does the content have to be in flash?
For this version, we settled on the flash format because you can play it from any browser. This will give your content the widest reach.
What rights do I have to my uploaded content?
If you publish a class, you own the rights to your content. OpenWebU is just another channel for your existing content.
